Ask ten UK clinics what a dental implant costs and you'll get ten different answers, usually wrapped in "from" prices that bear little relation to the final bill. This guide lays out realistic 2026 price ranges, what's normally included, and the questions to ask before you commit.

What should be included in the quote
A headline price means nothing until you know what it covers. A complete single-implant quote should include:
- Consultation and treatment planning (some clinics charge £50–£150 for this; many offer it free)
- 3D CBCT scan (£100–£250 if charged separately)
- The implant fixture (the titanium post itself)
- The abutment (the connector between implant and crown)
- The crown (the visible tooth; this is where cheap quotes often hide a £500–£900 extra)
- Follow-up appointments for the first year
Always ask: "Is that the full price, including the scan, abutment and crown?" A £1,500 "implant" that excludes the crown is not a £1,500 tooth.
What pushes the price up (or down)
- Bone grafting or sinus lifts. If you've been missing teeth for years, bone volume may have shrunk. Grafting adds roughly £300–£800 per site.
- The implant system used. Premium Swiss and German systems (Straumann, Nobel Biocare) cost clinics more than value Korean systems (Osstem). Both are clinically well-proven, but clinics price accordingly.
- Who places it. A dentist with a special interest in implants typically charges less than a specialist oral surgeon or periodontist. For straightforward cases either is fine; for complex ones, the specialist premium is usually worth it.
- Location. Harley Street pricing runs 30–50% above regional cities. Sheffield, Leeds and other northern cities sit at the more affordable end of the UK range.
- Same-day teeth. Immediate-load full-arch treatments ("teeth in a day") cost more than conventional staged treatment but compress months into a single visit.
Finance and payment plans
Most implant clinics offer finance, typically 0% over 10–12 months or interest-bearing over 2–5 years. On a £3,000 implant, 0% finance means roughly £250 a month for a year. Read the APR on longer terms; 9.9–19.9% APR is common beyond the interest-free window.
The honest maths on "cheap implants abroad"
Turkey, Hungary and Poland advertise implants at 50–70% below UK prices, and for straightforward cases the clinical work is often fine. The caveats: flights and hotels eat into the saving; complications need local aftercare (many UK dentists are reluctant to remediate overseas work); and full-arch cases require multiple visits. For a single implant, the saving rarely justifies the risk. For full-arch work, some patients judge it worthwhile. Go in with open eyes and a UK aftercare plan agreed in advance.
What to budget
Plan on £2,000–£3,000 for a single implant at a reputable regional clinic, all-in. Get two or three written, itemised quotes. Legitimate clinics expect this and won't pressure you, and any clinic that demands a same-day decision on a £3,000 treatment is telling you something.
